Each approved sample remains tied to the product name, fiber content, finished width, GSM, color reference, face direction, backing, functional finish and cleaning method. A color card or small swatch does not replace approval of the complete production specification.
From Sample Approval to Bulk Production

- Approve the surface and color. Review a physical cutting for hand feel, pile direction, jacquard definition, backing and intended cleaning method. Dyed articles normally use a 2–4 day lab dip; printed articles use a 3–7 day strike-off after artwork and color references are supplied.
- Release a complete purchase specification. Record the product name, polyester content, woven or warp-knit construction, finished width, GSM, color number, pattern or pile direction, backing or functional finish, roll packing, quantity per color and required test method. Link the approved sample version and date to the order.
- Plan production and shipment. The typical MOQ is 1,000 m (1,094 yd) per color. Standard bulk production is planned for about 20–25 days after sample approval, deposit and specification release. Confirm the final quantity, allowed tolerance, inspection records, packing and FOB, CIF or DDP route in the quotation.
Shade-sensitive programs should use one production lot where practical or define an agreed lot-to-lot tolerance. Reserve requirements and repeat-order timing belong in the purchase plan because an approved sample does not reserve future inventory.

Other Cushion Components
Foam or fiber filling, decking, dust cover, scrim, breathable underside lining and a fully sewn replacement cover are separate products. They cannot be substituted by changing the description of the face fabric.
Outdoor, Marine and Vehicle Use
These environments need separate validation for UV exposure, moisture, mildew, flame requirements, abrasion, cleaning and compatibility with thread, zipper, adhesive and filling. A dedicated specification is required because an indoor fabric claim does not cover another environment.

Fabric quantity starts with the finished top, bottom and boxing panels, then includes seam allowances, zipper panels, piping and a cutting reserve. Pattern repeat, railroaded layout and pile direction can increase consumption, so the cushion dimensions and sewing layout are needed for a yardage check before ordering.
Can chenille or velvet cushion fabric be machine washed?
The washing method cannot be chosen from the fiber name alone. The approved sample and specification establish the cleaning code, dye and finish, backing, shrinkage and seam construction; fixed upholstery often requires controlled vacuuming and spot cleaning rather than machine washing.
Can these fabrics be used for outdoor seat cushions?
